Founder and Group CEO, Paul instantly puts his clients at ease, personally and professionally. They appreciate the benefit of his global experience in diverse sectors, including commercial, private, military and healthcare.
Paul’s vision for CMS saw first light in 1988. He believes the business is about the people who work in it and has built a strong, talented team. He has shaped the business around clients’ needs, helping them to realise their goals by understanding their requirements and objectives. Paul is a member of many professional institutes including the CIOB and is a fellow of the Faculty of Building (not to mention a gifted drummer!).
BSc (Hons) Group Managing Director
Our clients have had complete faith in Peter’s natural ability to simplify processes and procedures in both private and public sector projects.
Over the past 20 years, Peter has managed healthcare, education, commercial and high-value specialist projects with consummate ease. Recently, his expertise has been called on for programming a complex education refurbishment development.
Peter’s tireless energy helps drive CMS Group forward, both operationally and in how the Group responds to rapidly evolving industry needs. This same energy also gives him the edge on many a sports field!
Sara is CMS Group’s Financial Manager and one of the longest serving members of the company.
Her financial knowledge within the role makes her a core member of the group. Sara has worked in many business sectors, including recruitment, the brewery industry, advertising and architectural practices.
RIBA Director/Senior Architect
What Joel doesn’t know about his field probably isn’t worth knowing. The breadth of his experience is as vast as his undeniable creativity.
Having worked on projects from offices, public buildings, cultural centres and schools to urban masterplanning, Joel’s originality, pragmatism and acute appreciation of sustainability ensures he is an asset to any project.
Joel has the accolade of being a BREEAM Accredited Professional, enabling him to offer expert advice on built-environment sustainability and assessment.
MA (Cantab) Chairman (Non Exec)
John has over 40 years of experience in the property and development industry.
He has been responsible for project management and coordination of major retail and office developments in London, the South West of England and the Channel Islands.
Cultural and leisure projects include the Bath Theatre Royal, Arnolfini Bristol, The Wiltshire Music Centre and the South Stand on Bath's Recreation Ground.
MRICS Director/Senior Quantity Surveyor
Ryan has over 10 years experience in cost control from inception to completion.
Works include order of cost estimates, cost planning, compiling and issuing tender documentation, the creation of schedules of work and bills of quantities, production of tender reports following detailed tender analysis, compilation of contract documentation, cost reporting, valuing of variations, certifying and negotiating final accounts.
Projects include industrial, commercial, residential, health, leisure, education and religious facilities.
Charlotte has joined the CMS Group as Marketing Coordinator using her skills and experience gained from her University Degree at Bath Spa to help propel her forward within her sector.
With experience in event management, digital marketing and publishing she brings a fresh approach to CMS.
RIBA Associate Director / Senior Architect
Paul is a Senior Project Architect at CMS Group and has been with us for over 13 years. He is an extremely competent professional with excellent communication skills.
His passion for sustainable and low carbon construction is matched by his sharp focus on delivering pragmatic solutions to challenges posed by the health and education sector, as well as affordable housing. His recent work for the Guinness Trust has been shortlisted for 'Best Large Development of 2013' and recognised as a 'Top 50 Affordable Housing Scheme' by Inside Housing.
BEng (Hons) ICIOB Senior Project Manager
Edward joined us with 10 years project management experience within the public sector, largely within healthcare.
After completing his degree in Civil Engineering, Edward has worked as a PM on numerous schemes ranging from minor capital maintenance projects to major refurbishment, extension and alteration projects. Edward has achieved his Prince2 practitioner qualification and brings this process-driven approach to his role to ensure key project criteria and objectives are realised.
MRICS Senior Quantity Surveyor
Colin joined CMS in 2005 as a Senior QS with a wealth of surveying experience. His extensive knowledge acquired as a senior “traditional” experienced quantity surveyor has been invaluable.
He has 35 years of experience in which he has gained extensive know how of construction procurement and delivery of sustainable and environmental friendly projects. His extensive skill set includes housing, health, education and industrial, with a particular focus on sustainability.
ACIAT Architectural Technologist
Matt qualified with a HNC in construction from the City of Bath College. His extensive knowledge of Revit (building information software for architects) has meant he’s been able to breathe life into a number of 3D visualization projects, including a complete model of the Royal United Hospital Bath.
Matt joined CMS Group in July 2005 and has made significant contributions to a number of projects, from residential schemes to commercial ones.
ACIAT Architectural Technologist
Russell qualified with a HNC in Construction from The City of Bath College and has 15 years’ experience as an architectural technician.
He joined CMS back in 2005 and during this period has gained an experience in a wide variety of projects with particular interest and specialism within the housing sector, working on projects ranging from complex single dwellings to large Estate designs. This has required Russell to also be diverse in his use of software and his application and approach in the projects and client's specific needs.
Sophie studied her undergraduate degree at the University of Bath and subsequent Master’s Degree at the University of Manchester, graduating with distinction in 2016.
In between her studies Sophie has undertaken various placements in Northern Ireland and Costa Rica working alongside the Costa Rican - Canadian Rural Housing Foundation. Here at CMS Sophie hopes to work towards Part III and become a RIBA Chartered Architect.
BA (Hons) BIID Interior Spatial Designer
Hailing from a fine art background, Beth sees spaces like few people see spaces. She applies a holistic view to how interior spaces can best serve the lives and lifestyles that occupy them.
A member of the British Institute of Interior Designers, Beth has been involved in a plethora of projects, from commercial proposals and educational schemes, to residential layouts. She works closely with architects and project managers to ensure spaces and structures are both cohesive and inherently creative.
Alicia’s boundless energy and passion for the industry is evident in all she does. She studied architecture in Spain and worked there for five years before moving over to the UK.
As a Spanish graduate in Architecture, her skills span architectural design, engineering, and hand sketches. Alicia has been involved in residential, hotel, industrial and commercial design projects, as well as interior design.
ACIAT Architectural Technologist
Benedict has a HNC in construction and 16 years experience as a technician working on a broad spectrum of projects including bespoke housing, healthcare, veterinary centres and education.
He has a particular interest in sustainable development and emerging technologies. Having completed his degree and managed a rural architects practice in Cumbria, we’re pleased that Benedict returned to us after a nine-year absence.
MSc Conservation ACIAT Architectural Technologist
Having qualified in Barcelona, Marta joined us in early 2014, bolstering our skill-set with her understanding of conservation issues and constraints.
Her interests previously took her to Edinburgh to pursue a MSc in Conservation. Having worked for more than ten years in private practices in the UK, and other public bodies like Historic Scotland, she has invaluable experience across a range of sectors from cultural, to education and residential.
BSc (Hons) Architecture, Architectural Assistant
Hannah graduated from University of Bath in 2013, and joined us shortly afterwards.
Throughout her studies, she undertook several placements, working in the East Midlands on a mix of projects and then much further afield in Costa Rica designing and building affordable housing alongside the Costa Rican - Canadian Rural Housing Foundation. Her experience to date has covered commercial, residential, industrial, and public sector work.
Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Harriette Beazer joined the team in February 2014, and has quickly adapted to the CMS Group way of working.
Under the careful guidance of the senior directors and quantity surveyors, and simultaneously reading for her undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, Harriette is well placed to become a key player in our team as we grow.
Trainee Architectural Technician
Grace is currently studying Construction in the Built Environment HNC at Bath College having previously studied there for her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction in the Built Environment.
Once her current course is completed she plans to work towards her CIAT Chartership. Grace has become an integral part of the team learning from her senior colleagues to extend her knowledge in Vectorworks, AutoCAD and Revit.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Brenainn has joined the team whilst studying for his undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.
He is following his senior team members closely to gain valuable experience in the field and is currently mastering his skills at CostOS. He brings an analytical eye and a very detailed approach to the team.
Office Manager/ISO Manager
Chris joined CMS Group in November 2015 after having worked in an Emergency Control room for 3 years. Previously, Chris has over 25 years extensive Administrative and Finance experience.
She has great organisational skills and a problem solving approach that complements her role as an Administrator and Quality Manager.
